Construction Tank Installer

Full-Time Manual Labour

Perth, Western Australia/Overseas

Position Summary: The Tank Construction Tank Installers are responsible for building or field assembly of STI Bolted Steel Tank System either with the use of STI proprietary Tank Jacking System (https://vimeo.com/181216425) or by the Ground-up Method with the help of Manual or Crane Lift Method.

The tank installers assist in the field assembly of the STI Bolted Steel Tank System with the aid of a Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) while adhering to company QA standards for an excellent finished product free of any defects in artistry. Also, tank installers must be deployed to sites 100% of their time – statewide, nationwide, and overseas travel, with a minimum of 70 working hours per week.

  

Construction Tank Installers Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Part of a 4-8 person field construction crew.

  • Hourly position with full-time benefits.

  • $50 per day Per Diem; Hotels paid by the company.

  • The company will provide all required PPE, including steel-toed boots.

  • Must be able to pass and comply with site inductions, safety rules, and standards, and be drug and alcohol-free when working on-site - Work Health Safety (WHS, OSHA, MSHA, must be trained in Working at Heights, Confined Space, EWP proficiency).

  • Must work in all outside weather extremes.

  • Must be able to use various hand & power tools, fixtures, work instructions, and other equipment to assemble bolted tank systems correctly.

  • Must be able to read and follow assembly drawings, prints, and instructions. 

  • Lift, carry, or guide machine-aided movement of assembly materials such as steel sheets, channels, tubes, mechanical fasteners, and other items requested/needed for bolted tank assembly.

  • Must be inducted or familiarized with STI Tank Jacking System before deployment on-site.

  • Maintained work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and followed prescribed safety procedures.

  • We comply with production methods, guidelines, and requirements according to established ISO 9001 policies.

  • It might be deployed 100% continuously out of the WA or overseas. Minimum weekly number of working hours: 70 hours

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Specifications for Construction Tank Installers:

  • Experience installing various Bolted Tank Roof Systems such as Self Supporting Dome or Cone Roof Truss systems, Geodesic Domes, and other roofing systems used in the bolted tank industry.

  • Must be proficient in operating forklifts, man-lift, and other material handling mobile equipment. 

  • Must be able to operate various power and hand tools safely. 

  • It must not be claustrophobic to work inside tanks.

  • Must be able to perform in elevated work safety and confidently up to 20 meters and be trained.

  • Must be able to read General Arrangement and component drawings.

  • Must be able to understand basic tank geometry and must be able to use simple math to generate basic calculations related to tanks.

  • Must be able to use the proper way of measuring tools and instruments such as steel tape, straight edges, laser level measurement, etc.

  • Must be able to read basic instructions and draft short memos coming from the crew supervisor or foreman. 

  • Must be able to receive and understand verbal and non-verbal instructions coming from the construction manager/crew foreman

  • Must be able and willing to contribute and work in a team environment.

  • Must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to ensure first quality of work.

  • Must be able to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in the course of work.

  • Must agree to work beyond 8 hours a day or be willing to extend work hours to meet the tight deadlines.

  • Must agree to travel with the field crew to another site if required during work on a site.

Education and Qualifications for Construction Tank Installers:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (TAFE).

  • Have a current or obtained Work Health and Safety (WHS) training certificate within the first 30 days of employment.

  • Have present or receive OSHA-30 hour training within the first year of employment - for overseas deployment.

  • A valid Class A driver’s license issued in Australia or Overseas.

  • Have current or obtained First Aid certification (St. John Ambulance) or another service provider

  • Must be able to pass site-specific background checks, including drug and alcohol tests.

Physical Requirements for Construction Tank Installers:

  • While performing the duties of Construction Tank Installers, the individual is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The person must occasionally lift and move up to 20 Kg., Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment for Construction Tank Installers:

  • While performing their duties as Construction Tank Installers, they are at the mercy of the prevailing conditions of the elements at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
