Engineering, Design & Construction Manager

Full Time – Perth office and Field deployment related to construction works -

Perth, Western Australia

Position Summary:  The Construction Manager is responsible for the tank construction works and will lead the crew, supervisors, and in-house skilled tank installer to ensure that construction schedules, quality standards, and customers’ expectations are consistently met or exceeded. The position requires strategic and tactical knowledge in planning, delegating, and developing the team’s construction methodology that, in some instances, is site-specific.

Duties and Responsibilities for Construction Manager:

· Responsible for preparing design calculations and drawings, materials takeoff, and costing sheets, including preparing and submitting commercial and technical proposals for overseas and local clients.

​

· Responsible for acquiring and servicing overseas and local clients for the Engineering Consultancy Services offered by the company – FEA using ANSYS, Staad Pro, Space Gass, and drafting works / mechanical detailing with the aide of Pro Engineer and Auto CAD soft wares.

 

​· Management of commercial projects of the company in mining, commercial, and industrial sectors Australia-wide. Responsibilities include:

  >Engineering Design – structural/geotechnical        >Writing Specifications / Drawings preparation

  >Quantity Surveying                                                     >Materials and Workshop Quality Control

  >Construction Project Management                           >OH&S compliance

  >Site Investigation / Field Audits                                >Project Planning (from Materials Delivery to Project Completion)

  >Cost Management                                                      >Subcontractor supervision/coordination at the worksite

  >Liaising with clients                                                   >Conflict Resolution

  >Change Order and Reports Preparation ​                 >Defects Rectification

  >Commissioning, Testing, and Turnover

  

Skills and Specifications for Engineering, Design & Construction Manager:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to instruct others with complex commercial or technical information.

  •  Have training or Certification in the following:​

    • Working at Heights

    • Confined Space Training

    • Competency in the operation of EWP

  • Ability to proactively and independently manage multiple projects in various locations simultaneously.

  • Most have a working knowledge and understanding of Google Suite and Microsoft Office.

  • Good leadership skills and must be Mission Oriented.

​

Education and Qualifications for Engineering, Design & Construction Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Structural/Civil Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Minimum of five years’ experience in Construction Management; leadership experience.

  • Have a current or obtained Work Health and Safety (WHS) training certificate within the first 30 days of employment.

  • Have current or obtain OSHA-30 hour training within the first year of employment - for overseas deployment.

  • Have First Aid certification (St. John Ambulance) or another service provider.

  • Have obtained a valid Class A driver’s license issued in Australia or overseas and allowed to use in Australia.

  • Previous experience in bolted steel tank installation works.

 

Physical Requirements for Engineering, Design & Construction Manager:

While performing the duties of the STI Construction Manager on site, the employee is continually required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.

In addition, the employee must occasionally lift and move up to 20 kg.

The vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment for Engineering, Design & Construction Manager:

While performing as a Construction Manager in the field, the employee might be exposed to the elements with prevalent weather conditions, i.e., red dust, hail, rain, flooding, etc... The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
